Many of our employees currently working as drivers, dispatchers, supervisors etc. began their careers as shippers or receivers. If you are flexible and willing to move about within Canada, your opportunities for promotion will be even better. However, employees who are less mobile can still get ahead as promotion criteria is based upon individual qualifications, ability, past performance, and job availability.
You are encouraged to communicate any suggestions, ideas or concerns you may have to your supervisor or management members. The SLH management team is approachable and willing to listen to your concerns.
Depending on your location and shift, there can be many opportunities for personal growth and just plain fun through teams and groups organized by your fellow employees. Activities range widely, from rummage sales, hockey, softball, dances and social gatherings sponsored by our various terminal social clubs. Drivers can participate in rodeos leading to competition at the Provincial and National level.
SLH has an active and ongoing Quality program. Submit suggestions or error cause removal forms that improve processes and receive recognition including a cash award.
